    Northern Illinois Horse Fest
    August 29 & 30
    Boone County Fairgrounds, Belvidere, IL

HEADLINERS ANNOUNCED FOR NORTHERN ILLINOIS HORSE FEST

Horse Lovers are eagerly awaiting the Northern Illinois Horse Fest which will be held August 29 and 30 at The Boone County Fairgrounds in Belvidere, Illinois.

The event will feature exciting headliners including GaWaNi Pony Boy, who is an accomplished horseman and trainer and creator of Relationship TrainingTM. He is recognized throughout the country as the authority on Native American HorsemanshipTM and is considered an innovative educator in the field of Native American history. His much anticipated book, Horse, Follow Closely, published by Bow Tie Press, was released in March.

Pony will conduct two programs each day. The first will be Native American HorsemanshipTM, an entertaining introduction to this nation's first great horsemen. As if they have stepped out of the pages of a history book, GaWaNi Pony Boy and his equine companion Kola appear in traditional northern plains regalia (circa 1830).

His Relationship TrainingTM program, an informative "clinic style" presentation will focus on the foundation exercises every horse and rider should be able to perform prior to moving into any specific style or discipline. GaWaNi will help participants diagnose "cracks or misplaced blocks" in the horse's foundation and give practical techniques to fix underlying foundation problems.

Pony will also conduct a 3-hour clinic--advanced sale tickets only.

The novel, The Horse Whisperer was a runaway best seller and has been made into a movie by Robert Redford. Curt Pate, who, along with Buck Brannaman, were the film's technical advisors, will conduct colt starting and natural horsemanship demonstrations.

The Fest's variety of events will appeal to serious horse people as well as horse lovers of all ages. Many more clinics and seminars are being finalized. There will be an open show sponsored by the Standardbred Pleasure Horse Organization, plus other breed shows, vendor exhibits, avenue of breeds, stallion and sale row and a parade of breeds.
Entertainment for children and adults as well includes drill teams, pony rides, petting zoo, a Wild West Show, western musicians, and more.

The fairgrounds are conveniently located just off I-90 east of Rockford and easily accessible from the Chicago, Madison and Milwaukee areas. This "horse friendly" facility features several outside and indoor arenas. There is also camper parking, however space is limited so reservations should be made early.

Twenty-eight premium seats in the orchestra section will be made available by lottery only for $20.00 per ticket for the performance of Rent, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical, at the Coronado Theatre.

The $20 tickets go on sale at the Coronado Theatre box office, on the day of performance only, two hours prior to the show and are available to anyone, cash only, with a limit of two tickets per person.

"In keeping with the spirit of the show and the vision of Jonathan Larson (the show's creator), we are happy to be able to offer prime seats to people who otherwise would not be able to purchase them," explained original Rent producer Kevin McCollum. "Jonathan was himself a struggling artist and his dream was to create a universal piece of musical theatre that's available to everyone."

The tradition of the $20 tickets was started in New York when the show moved to Broadway after a sold-out run in a small downtown theatre. The producers of the show are committed to continuing the tradition of offering orchestra seats for $20 in each city the show will play.

Rent makes its Rockford premiere at the Coronado Theatre on February 27, 2002, 7:30 PM. The $20 tickets are available by lottery only and only through the Coronado Theatre box office.
