She sits beside me, young but old, and wise beyond her years, rejoicing in my happiness, and sharing in my tears. Her purr announces to the world, that all is well today, then quicker than a wink, she scampers off to play. She can leap high in the air, or lie snuggled in my lap, her loving eyes look up at me, as she gives my face a pat, and her trusting gaze warms this empty heart, as I stroke my friend, the cat. "Oh, she is just a cat," they say, false words they'll always be, cause she represents the good in life, and she's all the world to me. I cherish all the fun we had, to my world she brought much cheer, as she perched upon my shoulder, and purred gently in my ear. But though I may get old and gray, and crazy as a bat, the day will never come, when I forget my friend, the cat. Yes, I know someday that god will want to have her for his own, and when that day arrives, she'll soar up to her bright new home. With love and great affection, for the master up on high, as she meets the great creator, in her home up in the sky. See the gates of heaven open wide, as she jumps up in his lap, all the angels will be singing, as they meet my friend, the cat. Cause' though she is so dear to me, selfish would be I, if I did not let her go to him, in her home up in the sky. Where the kitty litter's made of gold, and hungry's just a word, the protector of all animals, from the elephant the the bird. And proud indeed, am I to say, as she cuddles in his lap, take care of her, she's all I've got. Lord, meet my friend, the cat!
